School Awards 2013
The Awards 2013 were as diverse and interesting as ever. At the outset, the panel of judges wanted to encourage projects in schools that had little or no gardening. All of our top awards (up to a maximum of £1,000) went to schools that were just starting out with their gardening or were undergoing a major redevelopment of their grounds and their plans are ambitious and exciting. We have helped by funding equipment for gardening clubs, creating raised beds, a poly tunnel, materials for an Anderson shelter, timber for a greenhouse and the creation of a small pond.
We hope the smaller awards will also make a difference to the schools and children by way of encouragement and by adding items on their wish list. It makes a huge difference going to visit the schools to encourage the children and staff first hand, which we do when presenting the main awards.

The School Awards scheme was replaced in 2015 by the HGT Mrs Wheelbarrow Grants
