This talk will explore the many aspects of practical rose care from buying and planting through to pruning, pests and diseases. Kerry will expose some of the myths surrounding roses, the new varieties available and give us answers to the questions we have always wanted to ask.
Kerry Austen was originally from Whitwick in Leicestershire, where she did her horticultural training at Brooksby Melton college followed by Nottingham Trent University. She then took up a position at RHS Wisley with the remit of The Bowes Lyon Rose Garden, after which she became head gardener at The Royal National Rose Society’s Garden in St Albans. She now works at Rochfords Gardens Ltd, a wholesale plant nursery to the industry, running the International Rose Trials from the Birch Green site.
