The Gardens Trust is interested in the conservation and use of public parks and gardens as well as private estates and in this talk, Paul Rabbitts discusses the origin and history of the bandstand and the development of its use throughout the Victorian and Edwardian periods. After a sad decline, there seems to be a revival in their use and our hope is that this will go alongside emerging movements formulated to look after and save our public parks.
Paul’s talk is highly illustrative and comes recommended by previous appreciative audiences.
Paul Rabbitts is currently Head of Parks for Norwich City Council and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He is the author of many books and his latest, due out at the end of the year is called The People’s Parks – The Design and Development of Public Parks in Britain
