The Bicycle Boys – An Unforgettable Garden Tour

An on-line exhibition based on the diaries of Loyal Johnson, an American student, who, in 1928, visited more than eighty gardens in the UK with his friend Sam Brewster. They travelled, mostly by bicycle, and kept detailed records of their journey (almost 1,500 miles). The HGT is one of 14 County Garden Trusts who have collaborated with the RHS Lindley Library (who now own the diaries) to retrace Loyal’s and Sam’s travels. In Hertfordshire they visited Aldenham House, Hatfield House and Temple Dinsley , which will feature in the exhibition.
