A review of the contribution that archaeology has made to our understanding of garden history in Hertfordshire and elsewhere.
Tom Williamson is Professor of Landscape History at the University of East Anglia and has worked with the Hertfordshire Gardens Trust for many years. In this talk, Tom will discuss some of the contributions that archaeology has made to the study of garden history, both in Hertfordshire and beyond. He has written widely on garden history, landscape archaeology and historical ecology. His most recent book, The Orchards of Eastern England, was published by the University of Hertfordshire Press earlier this year.
