Gardening in Schools

This volunteer led programme was set up to provide schools with support where they need it most, and helps practically and financially to give pupils access to gardening.

The Mrs Wheelbarrow Workshops were designed to be practical in content, delivering Key Stage Two Science modules and over time visited 174 primary schools, delivered 510 workshops and 15,000 children had the opportunity to grow something.

In their place the Mrs Wheelbarrow Grant runs biennially, combining practical help for schools to get gardening started or revitalised with financial support in the form of a grant. The next Mrs Wheelbarrow Grant will be launched in September 2017.
