Our Research Group traces Hertfordshire’s landscape heritage from medieval times through to the 21st Century.  Site surveys are organised by the Trust’s Landscape Historian Anne Rowe.  We have carried out extensive research in Hertfordshire and the results of our work can be seen in publications and in an ever-growing collection of comprehensive reports detailing the histories of dozens of Hertfordshire’s parks and gardens.

The Trust Conservation Team is recognised as being able to give informed advice on the county’s historic designed landscapes to Local Authorities, environmental organisations, owners and developers.  Our professionally trained Team, led by Kate Harwood, monitors, advises and comments on planning applications for Registered and Local sites and advises on Local Development Framework documents.  Local Authorities consult the Team on repair and restoration of historic parks and gardens in their ownership.

Our Education Team is always happy to hear from Members with a background in education or horticulture who are interested in becoming involved with Garden History and our Helping Schools to Garden programme.  We offer training and study days, and joint workshops with other county garden trusts.
